The brew system is unique in design, but not in brewing process. Just like the two-bucket system, you make the wort by following a recipe (and please follow a recipe! When testing the Apt. Brewer, Nate once “wung” a brew recipe. Even though what was created was technically beer, we’ve found much better success when following someone elses instructions). Once the wort is chilled to room temperature (using a wort chiller if necessary, sold separately) it’s transfered to the Carboy through the top.
This is easily accomplished by placing the pot with spigot on top of the Apt Brewer and a-fixing a hose/tube for the transfer.
Once done, add the yeast as directed and stop the top/place the airlock and let it sit.
After primary fermentation has taken place, close the valve and remove the drub container, dump the sediment, rinse and replace. Open the valve slowly and commence the secondary fermentation.
Once the fermentation process is complete. Close the valve once more, remove the drub container, dump rinse and replace (if any remaining sediment needs to be removed repeat). When all sediment is removed and your ready to bottle or keg, simply use the built in spigot to accomplish this.
Once all beer is bottled/kegged, take the Apt Brewer apart and clean pieces thoroughly with water/soap. Note, some pieces of the system will easily fit in your dish washer, though be careful not to misplace any rubber seals. Store safely or brew again!
We think you’ll find the the Apartment Brewery is an appealing addition to any living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom (or yes, even a closet if your wife makes you hide it) whether or not its “getting busy”.
A detailed set of setup instructions and diagrams is included with every Apt Brewery kit sold (though we think you’ll probably just toss those like you did the instructions to the new DVD player).
